"What attracts me first is the beauty of the horse......
when I go to the stable in the afternoon and turn them loose,
I want to see pretty things in front of me."
"I bought Escape Ibn Navarrone-D (AS Sinans Pacha x Navarrone-P) three years ago from Paul and Martine Despeghel van Hee," says Sheikh Ammar. "He's very charismatic and this is what I love about him. He's full of power; a beautiful stallion, very correct, very pretty, and a good mover too. I just love that stallion and he comes from a good family as well. His dam is a first-class mare and the sire, too. Escape just goes out and wins. And I think he's going to be a good sire as well. I have one filly by him, out of Lora, whom I plan to show at Sharjah this year. Three or four of my mares are currently in foal to him as well as three or four owned by others."

"It was really important to me to win the Nations Cup - it had never been won by the UAE before, Everybody was very familiar with the UAE anthem by the end of the weekend... I got emotional when it was playing."

"WH Justice has been siring some very nice horses in Europe- in fact, his offspring are often even better than he is," says Sheikh Ammar. "All his kids have so much charisma. If you give him a solid mare, especially on the body side, he will give you the neck and head. I didn't have a filly to show in Europe this year, so I bought the two-year-old WH Justice filly, Panarea (x Palawan), who was recently Junior Champion at Towerlands and won the Two-Year-Old Filly class at Aachen. My other WH Justice filly is Bess Fa'Izah (xSharon El Kendal). I like the way she presented herself. Bess Fa'Izah was Reserve Champion Filly at the Elran Cup in Belgium, and then in Aachen she was named All Nations Cup Junior Champion Filly. The two fillies will go to the European Championships and to Paris to the World Championships."
"Psyches Amber Gem (Padron Psyche x AK Zabiya) - I heard that this mare, a world champion, was in Kuwait and that her owner wanted to focus on straight Egyptians and that she was available. I saw photo graphs of her but they didn't do her justice. When I saw her turned loose in the paddock I said, ' this is a world-class mare.' She is a complete mare: body, neck, head, movement, everything. I love that mare. She's lovely and has a very sweet personality."

"Buying horses is the first step for me, but my aim is to breed my winners. In four or five years, I plan to curtail buying horses and focus on breeding. I want to enjoy seeing horses of my breeding winning in the showring. When you have bred the winner it feels different, honestly - it feels nicer somehow." AJ Lafet (Nadjhan Ibn Piwonia- D x Lora) was Ajman Stud's first homebred winner. "His first win was in a show for local - bred horses here in the UAE. I thought he's probably a winner but not a big winner because it was only the local-bred horses," says Sheikh Ammar . "I thought 'Let's try him in the Ajman show where he's going to compete against important horses.' He competed there and he won. I said, 'No, this is not enough for him, we'll take him to Qatar.' We took him to Qatar and he won. Clearly he belongs there with the winners. So I'm really proud of him."

For Sheikh Ammar, the Arabian horse is appreciated for its gift of drawing his whole family together. "I'm very close to my father," says Sheikh Ammar of the ruler of Ajman, HH Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi. "He enjoys horses and hearing the good things about my wins - he was the first call and congratulate me in Aachen. When my brother is in an endurance race, my father sends his men to follow my brother because he wants to call every 10 to 15 minutes. 'What happened? How many kilometers are done now?'
"We are four brothers. I'm into the showring. The brother after me is into endurance. The one after him is into flat racing. And the one after him is into the jumping competition. Each one of us has his own sport or his own hobby, so if we sit all together and we start talking about our hobbies, we don't agree because everybody says, 'No, my horses are better because they do this,' But we all love horses, and I hope my kids love horses. At the moment my boys are more into motorbikes, but my eight-year-old daughter Anna love the horses. She has her own pony and she's riding in the school now. "It is nice to have the Arabian horses running through our family and trying us together. I hope to be involved with showing and breeding Arabians for years to come. I know the horses will always be in my life because they fill a place deep inside of me."
"When I consider my long-range vision of my breeding program, I appreciate the good advice from fellow breeders. You will never learn it all, you know."
